- You can also customize a preloaded watch face or create a new one ( Creating a Custom Watch Face). From the watch face, hold the touchscreen. Select Watch Face. Swipe up or down to scroll through the available watch faces. Tap the screen to select the watch face. Select Apply to activate the displayed watch face.
- Garmin's Vivoactive 3 is an extremely fitness-focused smartwatch, much more so than the Fitbit Ionic or Apple Watch Series 3. That makes this device perfect for extremely fitness-focused people.
- Note: If you have a Garmin Vivoactive or Epix watch, you need to access the Watch Face option via the Settings menu. Hold Up to bring up the menu and scroll down to Settings Watch face.
GMT4 is the most flexible watch face available for Garmin wearable devices. With up to 4 different time zones and over 40 user settings GMT4 is hundreds of watches in one. Build your own customised unique watch face as you control the style, colours, layout and much more.
From the watch face, hold the touchscreen. Select Watch Face. To customize an existing watch face, select the watch face, and select Customize. To create a new watch face, swipe to the bottom of the watch face list, and select Create New. Swipe up or down to scroll through the analog and digital dials, and tap the screen to select the displayed.
With the latest web enabled version you can now define up to 8 different watch faces and automatically switch between them based on your own schedule. Now you can have a different watch face every day of the week or have one look for work and another for after work!
Time zones can be shown in 12 or 24 hour formats or a 'second' hour hand can be displayed. This feature can also be enabled to be displayed only when outside your 'home' time zone. Then when you travel you will always be able to tell the time at home, great for the frequent flyers!
The alternative time zones can also have Daylight Savings Rules applied depending on which country and city you might using.

Choosing the right version
From release 4.5 all versions of GMT 4 and GMT 4 Master are exactly the same, however certain features are only enabled in different versions if your device supports them. Supported features by device is dcoumented on the help page. On Garmin devices that support regular updates every second (Garmin call them 1Hz devices) it is possible to have a second hand that is always visible. There are still some restrictions with the number of different colours you can run at once. (see Settings page)

Garmin has a lesser-known app in the App Store and it often gets overlooked.
At the end of the season Garmin launched Face-It, a customizable watch face creation app for its range of Connect IQ compatible products. This will allow you to be different from everyone else standing at the start line and make you the envy of your running buddies. You'll even have them thinking your an amateur hacker.

How to install a Face-It watch face
1. Turn on your phone. Download the Face-It app from the App Store(iPhone) or Google Play(Android).

2. Open the app.
3. You'll be prompted to choose a picture from your phone's library. You can then choose whether you want the face to be analogue or digital.
4. Once you've chosen your design, hit 'Send to device'. Garmin Connect will automatically fire up and you need to sync the your device as normal. Note: You can also connect your device via USB to a PC and sync via Garmin Express.
5. Voila, you're customized.
We should let you know that Garmin universally opts for low resolution screens to help extend battery life when you're on your run. This means that you'll need to choose your image wisely, and have realistic expectations. Rather than choosing a portrait with a lot of depth and colors, choose a logo with a white background, such as a Chicago Cubs logo. Less is more in this scenario.
